Support and Advice to Medical Staff Association

Accepting the privilege of election to the Medical Staff Association Executive is a serious commitment which places a duty on its representatives to be the voice of the medical staff individually and collectively throughout all levels of management and administration.

A reasonably comprehensive understanding of the Public Hospitals Act, the Regulations and the bylaws of the hospital is an essential duty of the job. Legal advice for and to MSA representatives should be obtained from an independent advisor and not from hospital legal counsel in order to avoid compromising the MSA mandate and duty.

Workshops and Training

Senior Counsel, Tracey Tremayne-Lloyd (TTL), is widely sought after as a lecturer and educator. She is available to present on important and emerging new legal issues, such as the latest changes to the Regulated Health Professions Act that make every complaint a potential “three strikes and you’re out” offence. TTL also lectures on the “Apology Act”, the “Out of Hospital Premises Act,” the credentialing process, the requirements to pass “unannounced” inspections, legal and ethical billing of the public purse and maintaining defensive medical records, both from an audit and a professional standards point of view.

TTL has a strong dedication to the health law business and to all professionals affected by its tricky restrictions and hidden struggles. She takes great pleasure in sharing her vast experience and enlightening others.
